KWANT CONTROLS Rudder Angle Indicators

Highlights:

Indicators of the R.S.A. series have been designed for rudder angle indication and come in a number of executions:

Types R.S.A.-3 thru R.S.A.-8 are based on the same servomotor principle (RSM-4) and require only an external potentiometer as well as a 24VDC supply voltage to make them operational. This enables other applications like pitch indication as well, which is just a matter of adapting the scales to match the application. The R.S.A.-9 and R.S.A.-10 are cost reduced versions of the R.S.A-7 and R.S.A.-4 respectively.

 Description

Available options:

  • Customized scales including limited operating angles;
  • Normalized signal inputs 4-20mA / 0-10V / ±10V (R.S.A.-6 and R.S.A.-8);
  • Integrated dimmer for dial illumination (R.S.A.-3, R.S.A.-6 and R.S.A.-8);
  • Dual pointer for PS/SB rudder angle indication (R.S.A.-6 and R.S.A.-8);
  • Limited angle azimuth indication by means of an additional external control box.
  • Watertight front.

Kwant Controls also supplies a matching signal transmitter mounted in a rugged housing, the R.S.G.-1 which can be linked to the rudder machine by means of a sprocket and chain connection. A combination of the R.S.G.-1 and one (or more) of the R.S.A. indicators together form a reliable rudder angle indication system that will last for many years without any maintenance. Diagrams have been added to show some of the possible system set-up’s. In case a panel indicator with a normalized signal input is required, an indicator of the I.S.I. family should be used. These indicators offer a wide range of input signals combined with galvanic isolation of the input signal and power supply. Please refer to the ISI datasheet for further information.
